Our
aim is to provide you with the best of Western Hospitality
and assure you of a memorable and successful hunt!
Our elk, deer and bear hunts are conducted from the
Jack Creek base camp.
These hunts include wholesome food, lodging, experienced mountain horses, professional
guides, packing out game, airport pickup and transportation to camp. Guests
sleep in either wall tents or tipis; which include a woodstove, plenty of split
wood. beds, mattresses, a table and lanterns. A full-time cook serves hearty
meals, family style in the cabin.
Our camp jack assists the cook, maintains
the camp and helps pack out game. One guide per two hunters is
provided unless a private guide is requested prior to the hunt.
Six hunters is the maximum group size allowed per hunt. We furnish
all necessary riding gear including saddlebags and scabbards, although
if you have a personal scabbard that fits your rifle, we suggest
you bring it.
WE OFFER COMBINATION HUNTS and
can help plan the itinerary that best suits your needs.
NON-HUNTING GUESTS are
welcome and invited to join us at camp.
Hunting
Terrain
Big game hunting is more then just going into
the environment of the game that you are seeking. You need the
ability and endurance to maneuver in their habitat. Elk hunting
occurs in lower elevations where the terrain is not as rugged,
but consists of heavy timber with open grassy pockets or meadows.
Elk Hunting
Most
of our elk hunts are conducted from our Jack Creek Camp, where
we hunt either in the Bridger-Teton Forest or the Gros Ventre
Wilderness Area. We are within close proximity to three elk
feedgrounds and the elk we hunt are a resident herd, so we aren't
concerned with elk migrations. Hunting is done on foot, by
horses or 4-WD vehicle. A large local herd population enables
us to maintain a success ratio of 60% to 70%. Deer Hunting
There
is an excellent population of mule deer in our
area and we specialize in trophy hunts. In the
summer and fall, many large bucks make the rim
rock ledges above timberline in the Gros Ventre
Wilderness Area their home. This is a demanding
hunt ranging in elevation from 9,500 feet to 11,500
feet. Those who undergo some physical conditioning
before the hunt usually enjoy greater success.
Although we have good horses which take most of
the burden out of getting into the high country,
some walking is necessary and the terrain is rugged.
Our hunter success has consistently been from 95%
to 100%.
ANTELOPE HUNT
All the hunting is done from Pinedale and primarily by 4-wheel crive vehicles.
100% hunter success.
BEAR HUNT
We no longer offer Spring bear hunts, although bear can be hunted in the fall
in conjunction with our deer and elk hunts.
BIGHORN SHEEP
HUNT
Our hunters apply for the best areas around Pinedale and Jackson. Those who draw
a permit usually arrive two days before the hunt begins. We utilize horse based
and "backpack" style spike camps in the high country at elevations
from 11,000 feet to 13,000 feet. Hunters must be in excellent physical condition.

of the hunt. Hunters unsuccessful in the drawing will receive a
refund, or they may apply the deposit towards a future hunt or
