Jack Creek Camp
Gros Ventre Mountains
For an unforgettable wilderness adventure, come enjoy the solitude
and tranquility of our Jack Creek Camp, nestled among pine trees
and beaver ponds in a beautiful mountain valley. Our scenic horseback
rides, fishing, hiking, wildlife photography trips and winter activities
originate here.
Just 35 miles south of Jackson, Wyoming, this site sits in the heart
of the Bridger-Teton National Forest at the
base of the spectacular Gros Ventre Wilderness
Area. Nearby, the clear, sparkling waters of
Jack Creek parallel an ancient Indian trail
which, in decades past, was an important migration
route between the Tetons and the headwaters
of the Green River.
Take a step back into the "Old West," while visiting this historic
gold mining campsite. It consists of a rustic
log cabin, tack shed, Native American
tipi's, a sauna, two corrals and an outhouse!
Built by trappers around 1900, the cabin was later
used by miners prospecting for gold. Old gold pans still hang on a wall and
some of the old, weathered sluice boxes are visible along the creek bottoms.
Our cooks serve hearty meals family style in the old cabin, which
provides a warm, restful, atmosphere. In
addition, we are proud to offer Native American
tipi accommodations due to popular demand from
our guests. Each tipi is hand painted, set up with a painted inner liner, beds,
a table and a woodstove.
